RS400 Northern Tour event at Notts County Sailing Club

A gentle force 2 north/northwesterly breeze welcomed seven traveling and eight home boats to Notts County Sailing Club for the 2024 RS400 Northern Tour. The race course set by the race team led by Rebecca Ogden offered plenty of shifts and interesting wind bends due to the island, making for an exciting day of racing.

In the first race, the home boat of John Tailby and Cillian Dyne took the lead at the windward mark, holding off the chasing pack to secure the win. Ollie Groves and Ester Parkhurst battled with Chris Pickles and Matt Sharman for the remaining podium positions, with Ollie and Ester finishing second.

Race 2 saw intense competition with five different boats leading at various points. Ultimately, John and Cillian clinched the victory in a closely contested race, with Ollie and Ester finishing a close second.

In the final race, John and Cillian managed to come back from a sub-optimal start to challenge for the lead, but Ollie and Ester held on to secure the win. The consistent performance of Chris and Matt throughout the day earned them a podium finish in third place.

Despite challenging conditions on Sunday morning, racing was eventually abandoned, and the overnight results determined the winners. John Tailby and Cillian Dyne claimed the overall victory, with Ollie Groves and Ester Parkhurst in second and Chris Pickles and Matt Sharman in third.

Overall Results:
1st – John Tailby and Cillian Dyne (Notts County SC)
