The RS700 Open at Dabchicks sailing Club took place on 5-6 October 2024, featuring a near full fleet of local boats and a visitor from across the Colne. The event provided some of the best sailing conditions of the year, with sunny skies and a stable 15 knot breeze.
In Race One, Jack Grogan, Mike Banks, and Sam Caslin battled it out on the water, with Jack ultimately taking the lead and securing the win. Race Two saw Jack once again dominating the competition, with Mike and Sam close behind. The fleet enjoyed ideal sailing conditions in Race Three, with Mike, Jack, and Tom Dutton leading the pack.
After the racing, sailors enjoyed a lively social gathering with plenty of refreshments. While strong winds prevented racing on Sunday, plans are already in place for next year’s event.
Overall Results:
1st – Jack Grogan
2nd – Mike Banks
3rd – Sam Caslin
4th – Tom Dutton
5th – Oliver Grogan
6th – Will Head

The event was a success thanks to the volunteers and participants, showcasing the camaraderie and competitive spirit of the RS700 class.
