Ibiza JoySail Day 2

Ibiza JoySail continues to establish itself as a key event in the superyacht calendar with a second day of racing in the beautiful waters off Ibiza, in the Spanish Balearic Islands.

An early morning rain squall and lighter winds led to racing being divided into two groups. The first group sailed a 10nm course around the island of Espardell, while the quicker boats navigated a 16nm course with a windward leeward leg before rounding Espardell.

The fleets provided a fantastic sight and close racing in all classes, with steady winds ranging from 9-12 knots. Winners included Open Season in Performance cruising, L’Hippocampe in World cruising L, Bliss in World cruising XL, Gelliceaux in Performance cruising L, and Moat in the Performance class.

Onshore, the low-key atmosphere of Ibiza JoySail offers a relaxing environment for the entire fleet to come together after racing, unwind, and share stories. The event has grown from just four yachts to 18 in four years, striking a balance between competitive racing and a friendly social scene.

With a focus on Corinthian sailing, Ibiza JoySail attracts both amateur and professional racers, all keen to enjoy the spirited competition on the water and the laid-back camaraderie on land.

As the event progresses, tomorrow’s racing promises more excitement for the penultimate day of Ibiza JoySail.
