Sandberg Estates J/70 Worlds Practice Race – Preparing for the Championship

The Sandberg Estates J/70 Worlds Practice Race is underway in Palma, with 96 teams from 25 nationalities competing for the world championship title. Over the next five days, intense racing will determine the new champions of the J/70 class. Favorable weather conditions are expected, with winds gradually decreasing from 15-18 knots to 8-12 knots.

The race committee plans to conduct up to ten races, allowing for the discard of the worst score after the fifth race. With a fleet of nearly one hundred boats, competition promises to be fierce with high-level competitors. Races are anticipated to last between 80 and 90 minutes, with two races scheduled per day.

Each day, racing will commence at 11:30h, followed by post-race activities at the race village in the Real Club Náutico de Palma. Monday included a training race and the official regatta opening ceremony, where participants were welcomed by local dignitaries and sponsors.

The Sandberg Estates J/70 Worlds 2024 is hosted by the Real Club Náutico de Palma, sponsored by Sandberg Estates, and supported by various institutional partners. For more information, visit www.rcnp.es/j70worlds.
