Stampede Triumphs at Verve Cup Inshore Regatta
Chicago Yacht Club recently hosted the Verve Cup Inshore Regatta, featuring a competitive fifteen-boat J/70 fleet. The event saw favorable weather, allowing the race committee to conduct ten exciting windward-leeward races. Despite the demanding schedule, the sailors were pleased to have such a rich sailing experience.
The highlight of the regatta was the performance of Bruno Pasquinelli’s STAMPEDE team from Fort Worth Boat Club, Texas. They dominated the competition, finishing in the top five in all ten races and winning three, ultimately achieving a total score of 25 points and clinching the victory.
Securely in second place, a young crew from the Chicago area onboard HESTIA also managed to win three races and finished with a score of 30 points. Taking the bronze medal was John Heaton’s EMPEIRIA, which secured third place with a total of 38 points.
Rounding out the top five were Laura Sigmund’s NORBOY in fourth place and Martin Johnsson’s AQUAHOLIKS in fifth place. For more information about the Verve Cup Inshore Regatta, visit the Chicago Yacht Club website.
