Swiss sailors have come together to launch an exciting new project: the Swiss Offshore Team. Their goal is to train young sailors and participate in major races on the IMOCA calendar, including The Ocean Race Europe in 2025, The Ocean Race in 2027, and the Vendée Globe in 2028.
The team, led by Alan Roura, Elodie Mettraux, and Simon Koster, aims to promote Swiss identity in offshore sailing. They plan to engage in crewed races after the Vendée Globe campaign, with a focus on The Ocean Race. The project will offer opportunities for Swiss sailors to showcase their talent in international competitions.
The Swiss Offshore Team will launch in 2025 and participate in The Ocean Race Europe with Alan Roura’s current boat. They plan to acquire a modern IMOCA yacht in 2026 and compete in events like The Ocean Race Atlantic and Route du Rhum. The ultimate goal is to sail around the world in The Ocean Race in 2027.
The team is looking for partners to support their long-term vision and is particularly interested in Swiss companies. They hope to attract sponsors who share their passion for offshore sailing and want to be part of this exciting journey.
