Racing begins on Tuesday to determine the 2024 winner, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the Finn Class. Competitors from around the globe are gathered with hopes of lifting this prestigious trophy next Saturday. Among the competitors are both seasoned sailors and newcomers, showcasing a vibrant mix of experience and ambition. The goal is to be part of the storied legacy of the Finn Gold Cup, as the challenge of competing is as rewarding as the success itself.
A practice race took place on Sunday, with Germany’s Andre Budzien leading the pack, closely followed by young competitors like Australia’s Jack Eickmayer and Finland’s Oskari Muhonen, who made notable early moves on the course.
The competitor’s briefing and welcome ceremony were held overlooking Aarhus Bay, where over 100 Finn sailors gathered. Tim Tavinor from the IFA Executive welcomed the sailors, emphasizing the prestige of the event, followed by Jon Koch Hansen, CEO of Aarhus International Sailing Center, who welcomed everyone to the city.
