The West Lancashire Yacht Club 24 Hour Race returned with a bang on September 21-22, 2024, after a long hiatus. The event witnessed 51 clubs competing in Enterprises and GP14s, featuring star sailors from across the country.

The race kicked off with a lively evening of festivities followed by a serious yet convivial atmosphere on Saturday morning. Despite grey and chilly weather, the moderate north easterly wind provided ideal racing conditions throughout the event.

Boats navigated a triangular course, with notable performances from various teams. The race was marked by close competition, with Budworth A ultimately clinching the top spot.

The event was a success with minimal incidents reported thanks to the vigilant safety boats and first aiders. Looking ahead, the 2025 edition of the WLYC 24 Hour Race is set for September 13-14 and is expected to attract more participants and offer an even more challenging experience.

Interested participants can now register for the 2025 race via the GP14 website.
