Border Counties Midweek sailing recently wrapped up its 2024 season with a successful series of events. Despite some challenges like storms and weed, the series saw a great turnout and competitive racing.

The first event scheduled at Nantwich and Border Counties was moved to Winsford Flash due to storm Kathleen. Shotwick Lake hosted the second event with 30 sailors from nine different clubs participating. The series continued with events at Llyn Brenig, Llyn Tegid, Redesmere, Budworth, and Winsford, where sailors competed in various classes like Streaker, Solo, Supernova, and more.

The winners of the 2024 series were Pete Coop in the Streaker class, Ted Garner in the Solo class, and Paul Newman in the Streaker class. Other winners included Nayth Twiggs in the Topper class and Simon and Julie Dolman in the Miracle class. The series saw a total of 74 individual entries across different boat classes.

Looking ahead to the 2025 series, the organizers have announced the dates for next year’s events, which will take place at various locations. The entry fee has been raised to £10 per boat to cover increasing costs for host clubs.

Overall, the 2024 season was a success, thanks to the participating sailors, clubs, and volunteers who made it possible. For more information about upcoming events and how to join Border Counties Midweek sailing, visit their website.
