Australia’s female athletes gear up for intense competition in practice racing mode against tough rivals.

Australia‘s women have transitioned into practice racing mode with tough competition in the Puig Women’s America’s Cup AC40‘s. After three practice days in Barcelona, they finally had the opportunity to compete head to head with their Group B rivals in three practice races.

The team showcased strong performance, finishing third in the first race and struggling with falling off their foils in the second race resulting in a fifth-place finish. Despite this setback, they bounced back in the third race, securing a clear second-place finish after encountering some close calls that resulted in penalties in their favor. The Swedish team dominated all three practice races, followed by the Dutch team in second place.

Co-helm Laura Harding described the session as “hectic” with various challenging conditions. Despite facing limited time on the water, the team managed to pull together and achieve a second-place finish. The racing for the Puig Women’s America’s Cup regatta is set to begin on October 6th for Team Australia.

For those following from home, a live update from Lisa Darmanin will be aired on Fox Sports News on Thursday at 5pm. Additionally, viewers can catch up on the report on Fox Sports Back Page or on Youtube.
