Sailing Revival in the Heart of Venice: A Return to Great Nautical Adventures

The Venice Hospitality Challenge is back for its eleventh edition, set to take place on October 19, 2024. This unique regatta brings top sailing talent to the heart of Venice, with the start and finish line within the city’s internal waters. The event is organized by the Venice Yacht Club, showcasing the excellence of sailing in a spectacular setting.

This year’s regatta will feature seventeen teams, each paired with a hotel or organization, competing for the coveted Doge’s hat. Notable participants include the Coast Guard with the Gipsea boat, seized from organized crime, and internationally renowned skippers leading the teams.

The event schedule includes boat arrival and mooring on October 17, a city-meets-skippers event on October 18, and the main race day on October 19. Spectators can witness the race up close along the Giudecca Canal, with the awards ceremony marking the end of the day.

The Venice Hospitality Challenge also supports the fight against cancer, with the maxi yacht Kiwi competing for LILT and raising awareness for breast cancer prevention. Environmental sustainability is a key focus, with efforts to recycle plastic bottles into crew clothing and promote eco-friendly practices throughout the event.

Sponsored by the Municipality of Venice and the Northern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, the Venice Hospitality Challenge enjoys support from various partners and sponsors. Media coverage and partnerships ensure the event’s success and highlight Venice’s unique blend of city and nature.
