Barcelona Regatta 2024: J Class Racing Event
The J Class Barcelona regatta 2024 is set to take place from 7-11 October, with three iconic J Class yachts – Velsheda, Rainbow, and Svea – expected to compete in the event. Hosted by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, this regatta brings the historic J Class yachts back into the America’s Cup arena. The J Class Association’s new ORC J VPP handicap rule will be used for the first and only J Class event of 2024, providing a fair rating system for the diverse fleet.
Svea and Velsheda, fresh from competing in the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, are anticipated contenders, with Svea potentially holding the edge. Rainbow, under new ownership, will make its fleet racing debut this season. Murray Jones, Rainbow’s tactician, is excited about the challenge despite limited practice time.
