The international photo competition dedicated to competitive sailing presents its international jury for 2024. The event aims to gather the sport’s best marine photographers from across the globe.
The prize-giving ceremony will take place publicly during the Yacht Racing Forum on November 21 in Amsterdam.
The Yacht Racing Image Award has announced its international jury members for this year’s competition. This esteemed panel includes Soco Nunez de Cela (ESP), Chair from The Magenta Project; Andy Rice (UK), sailing journalist and commentator; Patricia Becker (NED), Exhibition Manager at METSTRADE; Carlos Pich (ESP), sailing journalist; and Shirley Robertson, a double Olympic champion and journalist. They will evaluate and select the finest sailing photos of the year.
The fifteenth edition of this photo competition is open for submissions, inviting professional photographers to submit their best images captured between October 14, 2023, and October 13, 2024. The top twenty images will be featured in an exhibition at METSTRADE in Amsterdam from November 19-21.
Winners of the competition will be announced and celebrated during the Yacht Racing Forum on November 21 in Amsterdam.
The eighty best images, chosen by the international jury, will be displayed on the event website starting October 17. The public can vote for their favorite photograph until November 12.
The main award, the Yacht Racing Image Award, will be determined by the international jury, while a separate public prize will stem from online votes. Additionally, the Delegates Award will be based on votes cast by attendees of both the Yacht Racing Forum and METSTRADE.
Photographers can submit their entries until midnight on October 13 via the event website.

Ava Thompson, a skilled sailor and marine journalist from Auckland, has developed a deep connection to the ocean that guides her work. With a degree in Marine Journalism from the University of Auckland, Ava is known for her engaging and detailed storytelling. Her writing brings to life the thrill of sailing and the unique maritime culture of New Zealand, earning her recognition in the sailing community. Outside of her journalism, Ava enjoys exploring the rugged coastlines of New Zealand and competing in local regattas, always in search of her next seafaring adventure.
