SCIRA NW Championship 2024: Snipe Open at Budworth Sailing Club
The Snipe Open at Budworth sailing Club for the SCIRA NW Championship 2024 took place on 21-22 September 2024. The event saw gusty and shifting lake conditions challenging the competitors, making strategy and tactics crucial for success on the water.
In Race 1, Mark and Tracy Antonelli took an early lead and held on to win. Race 2 saw Peter Wolstenholm and Lloyd Roberts clinch victory, with Eric Paalman and Debbie Love also posting a strong performance. The third race saw the Martins making a comeback and finishing in 2nd place.
Day 2 of the event was marked by rainy weather, but it did not dampen the spirits of the competitors. Race 4 saw Matthew Wolstenholm and Liz Pike dominating the competition, while Race 5 saw Wolstenholm/Roberts extending their lead.
The final races of the regatta showcased the top teams using their superior boat speed, strategy, and tactics to excel in the challenging conditions. Italian entry Marco Ballatore and Pauline Penny led Race 7 but were overtaken towards the end by the Martins.
